As we know that Islamic knowledge has been the most important thing should be studied. As human being, we have to know science and technology. As scientist, we also have responsibility to understand about the key how to study the science. The main key to understand the huge knowledge is the Language, English and/or Arabic. Thus, State Institute for Islamic Studies Sunan Ampel has the main role in developing these two languages.

English is the international language. It’s used in any institutions in the world. In Indonesia, English has been the major subject applied in any schools and/or universities along this decade. State Institute for Islamic Studies has applied English as the basic main subject. So, it should develop the materials used for the instructional process.

We realize that using handout in every teaching has been the main problem of our institution, so that as the unit of developing language, Language Centre has the big responsibility. The centre should have many varieties of handout used for the teaching and learning. One of the book has been used nowadays is “3 Keys To Study English”.

As a handout we realize that it should be appreciated, corrected or revised. On this moment, we hope there is a new contribution from scholars, specially from the field of Linguistics and teaching to complete or accomplish the contents of this handout. Finally, may this book has been useful in developing English in the State Institute for Islamic Studies.
